narrowboat living in the winter
Living on a boat is romantic.
Having a fire to keep you warm is a joy in life... it makes me so happy, I feel connected to another element - being surrounded by water it's good to balance it with fire :)
The wood I'm burning to keep me warm I have sourced from fallen trees found this summer and last cut and split them with my bowsaw and axe (Thank you Tom).......I also top it up with braquettes (a new compressed log made from bracken in the Brecon Beacons, it's eco, burns slow and the ash is full of goodness for the garden...and coal not so nice to burn but pretty much essential as it's slow burning so will keep the chill out of the boat whilst your sleeping and if you've got the knack you can wake up and it's still glowing, by adding some coal on top of the red glowing embers and sprinkling ash from the grate it creates a blanket so slows down the burning of the coal)
There is nothing more cosy than lighting some candles, fire blazing in the stove, music, films, drawing, some tasty food (sometimes using the stove to cook a slow curry in a cast iron pot, or jacket potatoes wrapped in foil) . Boat life is lovely.... frost on the windows in the morning is a small price to pay for such a wonderful way to live.... and summer wow....the beauty and wildlife on the river blows my mind... :)

Jarvis Cockers Sunday Service with performance artist Marina Abramovic... listen here
"I have to keep this curiosity like a child...like the things just happen for the first time, that's what is important to me the constant discovering... If you go to buy milk always the same way on the street just find 25 ways new to buy the same milk, but don't repeat yourself, repeating yourself is like a small dying" Marina Abromovic

Kambo and the Moon
I am no expert however I do have a few words of experience to share that may benefit others and this post comes because I don't want to lose sight of the reason why I make moon calendars or create art...
Charting the Moon and it's cycles has had a profound effect on me and my well being. I believe that being conscious of the cycles of the Moon and how they relate to our own will help regulate your menstrural periods in a similar way in which we tune in to our fellow sisters and bleed together. We can quite literally tune into the Moon...and what an amazing feeling to know you are connected and in the flow of the Whole.
Since charting the moons phases I am now as regular as the Moon. This is very helpful in knowing when I am ovulating, when I need time to reflect, when I could do with a boost to my diet...it also helps with understanding why and when I may be feeling a certain way... Super lustful, shy and introverted, impatient, sensitive or outgoing etc!
I believe through the moons cycles we can learn more about our personal cycles helping us to grow, develop, live a more balanced life and understand ourselves on a deeper level.
I recently did a Kambo Ceremony. Yes the frog called...what an experience. I won't bore you with mine but I can verify what you read about it. It really does shift and clear -lifting the cloud to reveal a kind of personal truth within, it is a bit like they say a re-set button...letting go of all unnecessary ,...

too Trew
This morning I read the headlines...'Parliament has the right to reject the final Brexit deal' ... So why did they ask us to vote in the first place? To give us a sense of democracy?! Not even sure what I think is the best way forward... Surround yourself with the people you love

Calendula Oil
I harvested some calendula flowers from the allotment the same day I went to watch Embrace of the Serpent (Ciro Guerra) ... wow beautiful mesmerising dreaminess. It's not Yakruna but calendula oil is easy to make (well so i've heard, this is my first attempt!) It has super healing properties and I'm pretty excited about making it. I've read that the petals need to be very dry before pouring the oil over.
a good treatment for burns, skin rashes, inflammation, and wounds. Calendula oil also has antiseptic, anti fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties.
(you may want to sieve the flowers into a fresh jar after the two weeks)
