i love

the individual ego develops along the same lines as the universe, love being a search for a centre which will allow the dynamic synthesis of the individual's potential....love is an ontological well-spring of progress in so far as it is truly union and not confiscation.   - a dictionary of symbols

Open House & Xmas Fair

I will be selling un/framed original etchings, dioramas, greeting cards and decorations. I decided not to e-mail everyone as I seem to be getting loads from all over the place and it does get a bit annoying doesn't it! The Round Barn is in Firle, BN8 6NB. I will also be at Burgh House in Hampstead on Sunday 4th Dec: http://www.burghhouse.org.uk/  for more details.

Valentine

I came across Jessie Ware when she contacted me to buy some of my Art, she has two diorama pieces now...does that make her a collector?!  She has a beautiful soulful voice.  She's just finished her debut album with Dave Okumu (The Invisible),..>>>///>>>>/////>>>>. so keep your eyes and ears open :)

are you feeling it?

interesting read i thought i'd share here on my blog........................................................................
 read the full article here:
The “End” of the Mayan calendar, Solar Flares and Earth Changes

"Maybe it is because they hear this call from the “future” that, despite the concurrent presence of some negative omens at the current time, I find a noticeable group of people who at this very time are coming home to themselves and are truly beginning to appreciate life exactly the way it is. Maybe after all there is a shift to unity consciousness going on and that the universe is now starting to allow us to just be whatever we are."

Sous Les Pavés, La Terre

This weekend French film makers Pablo Girault, Thierry Kruger and Anne came to couch surf at my house. They are making a film about alternative living, permaculture and the need for a more sustainable way of life. They wanted to come to the Lewes area to investigate the Transition Town movement in the U.K.
You can watch the trailer for their last documentary here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7pa6y_sous-les-paves-la-terre-bande-annon_shortfilms
interviewing outside Zu Studios in Lewes, a hub for alternative thinkers
and find more info about the next one on their website: http://souslespaveslaterre.wordpress.com/
I'll post more about this in the Spring when they release the documentary.
Peace!

Finland

I went to Tampere, Finland last weekend to meet up with the author Mikael Davies. He writes modern fairy tales set in a world half way between the dark Finnish forests and the woodlands of Devon. A very inspiring trip, I hope I will return.
Mike introduced me to Kalevala, a 19th century work of epic poetry. The story begins with the traditional Finnish creation myth....  the creation of the earth, plants, creatures and the sky.
The Defence of the Sampo, Tempera 1896

The illustrations by Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1865-1931) took me to another world, after a week back in England I feel as though part of me is still there in that landscape.

chêne chapelle

This summer i challenged myself to a mini mission cycling a round trip of 220 km in Normandy, France, camping along the way, to pay my respects to Chêne Chapelle an Oak Tree 1,000 years old situated in the sleepy village of Allouville-Bellefosse.
Since a kid I've always drawn, climbed, sheltered under and hidden inside trees. I love trees! Especially the old ones who have a few stories to tell .
In 1669 Chêne Chapelle was struck by lightning making it hollow. A religious villager decided to build two chapels inside with a staircase that spirals up and around the trunk where you enter Chambre de l'Ermite....an old meditation room?  Downstairs there is another chapel named Notre Dame de la Paix (Our Lady of Peace). Chêne Chapelle is fascinating fairytale architecture, Grimm Brothers.... Tim Burton, Guillermo Del Toro... mysterious, dark, intriguing, inspirational! Inside there is a tranquil reassuring atmosphere... you feel as though you could disappear into another world.
I met a lady the day i visited who's Father had taken her to the tree as a child, she had almost forgotten where it was and how to find it, but had a magical memory of the place. Years later she returned with her son on the anniversary of her Fathers death to reconnect.
It really was as incredible as I'd imagined.Only problem is i discovered there are two more not far from this one!
